A boat carrying nearly one hundred migrants, including dozens of Palestinians fleeing from Gaza, overturned in the Mediterranean Sea near Egypt, on Saturday, killing fifteen of those on board, according to Al-Anadolu news agency. An additional 72 passengers were rescued by the Egyptian navy.

This list is still incomplete, but we are trying to fill in gaps - these are Palestinian men, women and children killed during the Israeli assault on Gaza from July 8th to August 27th, 2014, and those who died of their wounds later on. The IMEMC staff tried to document every casualty, but fell behind due to the high number of casualties in such a short time. The following 1606 names have been confirmed - the actual death toll, according to the Ministry of Health, is at least at 2137. Full Story

In a rare admittance of the use of the so-called 'Hannibal Directive', in which Israeli soldiers kill their fellow soldiers to avoid their capture, an Israeli military officer admitted in an interview with the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahranoth that he ordered a mass bombardment of parts of Rafah during the Israeli invasion, last month, in order to ensure the death of an Israeli soldier who he believed had been captured.
