Israel confiscated eight dunams of land from the occupied East Jerusalem village of Issawiya, Thursday. The land, ostensibly confiscated “for military purposes”, is located in the east of Issawiya, an area considered the West Bank by Israel.

The confiscation order was delivered on Thursday morning and it is valid until the end of 2017, although Israel is able to extend the order at this time.

Israel has effectively boxed Issawiya in with the Hadassah hospital, Hebrew University, a military base, the settlement known as French Hill, and the Separation Wall which rises behind the village and separates the residents of Issawiya from the Palestinians living in neighbouring Anata and Shoafat refugee camp.
