Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with three of his top ministers to discuss ways to deal with the threat of economic boycotts against Israel, media reported Monday.(Ma’an/AFP) The meeting on Sunday night was attended by Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, Economy Minister Naftali Bennett and Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz, the reports said.

The meeting comes less than a fortnight after US Secretary of State John Kerry warned that Israel was facing a growing campaign of delegitimisation which could worsen if peace talks with the PLO collapsed.

In related news from the Alternative Information Center, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) has denounced a bill against the BDS movement, introduced in U.S. Congress on Thursday, February 6, claiming that it violates the U.S. Constitution and, if passed, would stifle academic freedom, chill free speech and penalise the use of non-violent means of resistance and protest against the Israeli occupation.

The proposed legislation introduced in Congress would prohibit any institution that participates in a boycott of Israeli academic institutions or scholars from receiving federal funds under the Higher Education Act.
