[Thursday January 16, 2014] 22 Israeli settlers, escorted by occupation soldiers, stormed al-Aqsa yards on Thursday morning.Media coordinator for the al-Aqsa Foundation for Waqf and Heritage, Mahmoud Abu Atta, told Al Ray that the settlers roamed al-Aqsa yards in a provocative way and performed their Talmudic prayers.

Students are still in al-Aqsa mosque, surrounded by the Israeli occupation forces, he said.

Abu Atta pointed out that the Israeli occupation soldiers arrested two Palestinians who were trying to prevent the settler’s attack.

Al Ray reports that, over the past decades, Israel has tried to change demographic makeup of Jerusalem by constructing illegal settlements, destroying historical sites, and expelling the local Palestinian population.

Over half a million Israelis live in what amounts to 120 West Bank settlements built since the 1967, illegal under international law.
