Hamas leader, Ismail Haniyya, senior Hamas official, Ahmad Bahar, and Islamic Jihad Leader, Mohammad al-Hindi, phoned Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, informing him that their movements endorse Abbas’s UN Observer Status application.Abbas will be officially submitting the application to the General Assembly of the United Nations on November 29, 2012.

The Palestine News & Info Agency, WAFA, reported that Abbas received a phone call from Haniyya after the ceasefire came into effect, and also received phone calls from Bahar and from al-Hindi, who also told him that they approve of the UN application.

Abbas saluted the Palestinian people in Gaza, and their steadfastness despite repeated Israeli war and aggression against them.

He said that all factions must act on maintaining strong national unity among all Palestinians and their factions.
