Ghassan Khatib to Leave P.A. Media Center

Palestinian Authority spokesperson, Ghassan Khatib has left his position with the P.A. and is returning to his post as an university lecturer, WAFA News has reported on Wednesday.

WAFA, the news service of the P.A. has said that Khatib has chosen to return to his position at Birzeit University as a lecturer within the Cultural Studies programme following a three year leave of absence to work with the P.A. as Director of the P.A. Media Center.

Khatib is a member of the Palestinian People’s Party and had previously worked as a representative at the Madrid Peace Delegation in 1991 and was involved in the Washington negotiations of 1991 – 93. Furthermore Khattib served as Minister of Labor in 2002, then the Planning Minister from 2005 -06.

At the time of writing no replacement for Khatib has been announced.
