Amnesty International has called on Israel to release all administrative detainees or at least allow them a fair trial.A report issued by Amnesty on Wednesday called on Israel to not use administrative detention as a means to suppress legitimate and non-violent activities. The report also noted that administrative detainees are subject to very harsh treatment including torture.

Amnesty described the treatment of administrative detainees as harsh and humiliating, and pointed out that it is used as a punishment for hunger strikes and other non-violent actions that Palestinians prisoners take part in.
