Israeli troops attacked the weekly nonviolent protest in Kafr Qaddoum village, near the northern West Bank city of Nablus, leading to six injuries.The wounded protesters were identified as Odai Jom’a, 17, Khader Jom’a, 22, Yahia Eshtewy, 26, Saddam Eshtewy, 20, and another resident who was not identified, an international activist identified as Lydia was also injured, local sources reported.
Murad Eshtewy, media coordinator of Kafr Qaddoum nonviolent activities, stated that this protest also comes to commemorate the criminal attack that was carried out against the Al Aqsa Mosque on August 21, 1969, when an extremist Israeli settler torched the mosque, and to affirm the Palestinian rights in Jerusalem, the capital of the future Palestinian State.
Eshtewy added that despite all Israeli violations, illegal settlement activities and the takeover of Palestinian homes and lands in addition to home demolitions, Jerusalem is the heart of every Palestinian, and that the Palestinians will liberate it.
Participating in the protest, Palestinian Legislator, Waleed Assaf, stated that nonviolent protests that are being organized and conducted in different parts of the West Bank will continue to resist the Israeli construction, the expansion of Jewish settlements and the ongoing confiscation of Palestinian lands.
It is worth mentioning that the main entrance of Kufr Qaddoum was completely sealed off by the army nine years ago, and the residents are demanding the army to open it as the closure violates their right to freedom of movement.
