Israel Police Superintendent, Luba Samri, stated Saturday that the police detained twenty Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem following clashes with the army and the police in several areas of the occupied city. Several Palestinians and a number of police officers were injured.Samri stated that eight policemen were injured during the clashes, including five who required hospitalization for further treatment.

She added the police decided to impose restrictions on the entry to the Al Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem, as males below the age of forty will not be allowed into the mosque. Palestinians from the West Bank holding entry permits to Jerusalem will not be allowed into the mosque.

Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers kidnapped twenty Palestinians in several areas in East Jerusalem after accusing them of “disturbing the peace”.

Two Israeli police officers suffered mild wounds after a group of Palestinian youths hurled stones at a roadblock installed at the entrance of the camp, Israeli police spokesperson reported.

The police also kidnapped nine youths in Sur Baher village, east of Jerusalem.

In al Suwwana neighborhood, several youths blocked the main road with burning tires and trash dumpsters, and hurled stones at the police and the soldiers.

Clashes were also reported in several neighborhoods in Sur Baher as the police fired gas bombs at the protestors and at several homes in the area; several residents received treatment for the effects of teargas inhalation.

Also on Saturday, a Palestinian youth identified as Milad Sa’id Ayyash, 17, died of wounds suffered Friday during clashes with the Israeli police in Silwan town, in occupied East Jerusalem.

According to eyewitness accounts, a settler of an illegal outpost in the area fired illegal Dumdum rounds at local Palestinian youths protesting in the area.
