Israeli sources reported that the Border Guard Policemen (Israel’s Military Police) suffered body injuries during the clashes, and that the officer was reportedly injured when protestors hurled a Molotov cocktail into a settlers’ home.

The sources said that the settler’ home sustained fire damage after being attacked with Molotov cocktails, and that the protestors reportedly broke into it and set it ablaze.

The Israeli Police in East Jerusalem claimed that while extinguishing the fire, local youths hurled stones and Molotov cocktails at them leading to the injury of one officer.

The Border-Guard officer suffered minor burns to several parts of his body and was moved to a local hospital.

Also, a Palestinian cameraman identified as Mahmoud Abu Turk was injured during the clashes and was moved to a local hospital.

Dozens of residents were treated for the effects of teargas inhalation as the soldiers fired several gas bombs at the protestors and nearby homes.

Fakhri Abu Thiab, head of the local committee for defending Silwan, stated that the soldiers fired rubber-coated metal bullets and gas bombs in an attempt to force the protestors to disperse.

Furthermore, the police kidnapped Anas, 18, the son of Abu Thiab, and intend to press charges against him, accusing him of throwing stones at the police.

In a phone conversation with the “Silwan News” website, Abu Thiab said that his son was interrogated by several officers, and that the interrogators were describing him as a terrorist, and accused him of incitement and throwing stones at the police.

Abu Thiab further stated that the police claimed that he encouraged his son to commit “violent acts and terrorism”.
