The Hamas Interior Ministry declared that a car exploded outside the Palestinian Authority passport office in Gaza City, killing one Palestinian. According to Hamas officials, the blast was provoked by an Israeli air strike, however Israel Radio said the premature detonation of a car bomb may have been the cause.

An Israeli military spokesman had no immediate comment on the incident.

The man who died was identified as 27-year-old Mohammed Jamal al-Nimim, from the Shati refugee camp. Several other Palestinians were injured in the incident.

The Israeli military has targeted Palestinian cars in air strikes in previous rounds of clashes.
