Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli Navy boats prevented the fishermen from fishing and attacked them forcing the fishermen back to the shore.

On Wednesday, it had been reported that Israeli Navy ships opened fire at a number of Palestinian fishing boats near the Gaza shore causing damage.

Although fishermen are using areas designated for fishing, the Israeli Navy repeatedly attacked them leading to dozens of casualties and excessive damage.

Thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip depend on fishing as their only source of livelihood.

One week ago, on Friday, a Palestinian fisherman was killed by Israeli Navy fire.
The fisherman was identified as Mohammad Mansour, 20. He was fishing off the shores of the Al Shaty’ refugee camp, west of Gaza City.
