Local sources reported that dozens of residents held protests in Silwan, and that Israeli soldiers, deployed in force at the entrances of Wadi Hilwa and Wadi al-Rabab, attacked the protestors and fired rubber-coated bullets, gas bombs and stun grenades.

A number of youths hurled stones at the invading forces, the sources added.

The residents suspect that the army will try to invade the area again in order to remove a protest tent in al-Bustan neighborhood.

The tent was installed to protest the Israeli demolition policy in occupied East Jerusalem and the ongoing attacks carried out by Jewish settlers. It belongs to resident Naim Roweidy, who was given until Sunday to remove the tent .
