A single generator was able to start Monday after a small amount of fuel was received. The Electricity Company in Gaza received only a limited supply of fuel to start up one generator at the power plant. This will allow only power for a day and a half before it cuts out again.

The spokesman for the company Jamal Ad-Dardasawi said that they had delivered over $2 million to the Palestinian Authority in order to pay for fuel.

Under previously made arrangements, the government in Gaza is meant to collect bills for electricity used and transfer it to the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah who then purchase the fuel through Israel who move the fuel into Gaza.

The power plant was shut down on Saturday.
