author Wednesday June 16, 2010 02:19author by George Rishmawi - IMEMC & Agencies Report post

Hundreds of Palestinians marched in the Gaza Strip to protest the “buffer zone” Israel is creating in the northern, and eastern side of the Gaza Strip.

The march, called for by the Popular Committee Against the Buffer Zone, started from the town of Beit Lahia to the area Israel is leveling to create the buffer zone. Protesters carried Palestinian flags.

The march ended peacefully following speeches delivered by the organizers who affirmed their commitment to the ongoing nonviolent resistance to the buffer zone and the siege on Gaza.

Israel razed hundreds of Palestinian homes in the northern and eastern parts of the Gaza Strip in order to create this buffer zone. Israel claims the zone is needed for its security to prevent Palestinian resistance fighters from firing their home-made shells into Israel.
