London based Al-Quds al-Arabi are reporting that Palestinian Authority president, Mahmoud Abbas, is willing to have NATO forces stationed in a future Palestinian state, and intends on informing Special US envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell, of this in their Wednesday afternoon meeting in Ramallah.

The report states that Abbas is willing to accept NATO forces in a demilitarized Palestinian state to curb arms smuggling and would expect those forces to protect the Palestinian state from any potential attacks from Israel.

In their meeting, Abbas and Mitchell are expected to discuss final status issues, such as the division of Jerusalem, the establishment of permanent borders and the right of return for Palestinian refugees.
