The News Cast

The Palestinian Librations Organization Executive Committee will convene on Saturday to decide on resuming indirect talks with Israel mediated by Washington.

The U.S envoy to the Middle East George Mitchell arrived to Israel on Wednesday and met Israel’ PM Netanyahu.

Mitchell is expected also to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday. PLO Executive Committee member Hanna Ameera told Palestinian Media that the PLO will wait tell after Abbas Mitchell meeting to make a decision.

On the ground, at least 12 Palestinian civilians were detained by Israeli soldiers during morning military invasions targeting a number of West Bank communities on Wednesday.

Troops invaded the southern West Bank cities of Nablus and Saflit and nearby villages, troops left after detaining 12 men, local sources reported.

All 12 detained men were taken to detention camps for questioning, the army radio announced on Wednesday.

Elsewhere a number of Israeli tanks and bulldozers invaded farm lands close to the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah boarders with Israel.

As bulldozers destroyed crops and bulldozed farm lands owned by local farmers tanks opened fire at nearby residents’ homes, witnesses reported.

Army tanks and bulldozers attack Rafah border areas frequently, farmers told local media. The Israeli army is trying to create buffer zone at all Israeli borders with Gaza.
