author Monday May 03, 2010 09:55author by Saed Bannoura - IMEMC News Report post

Enjoying Israeli police protection, a group of fundamentalist settlers occupied a Palestinian home in Beit Safafa town, in East Jerusalem, and raised Israeli flags on top of it “to declare their victory”.

Local sources reported that the settlers and the police attacked the family while forcing them out of their home, and forcibly removed them from their property.

The settlers then held a “dance square” to celebrate while the police provided them with protection.

Forty members of Salah family lived in the property in question, the take-over also includes a piece of land the surrounds the building.

On April 22, the Israeli authorities demanded the family to pay 65.000 New Israeli Shekels in fines and penalties for not implementing a High Court order to leave the property.
