A group of Palestinian fighters survived on Saturday at night an Israeli assassination attempt targeting them in Al Zeitoun neighborhood, south east of Gaza City. Two residents were wounded in an explosion in the same area.

Local sources reported that Israeli soldiers, stationed near the border fence with Gaza, fired a shell at a group of fighters in the Cars Market, east of Al Zeitoun neighborhood. The fighters survived the attack unharmed.

Furthermore, two residents were wounded when their motorcycle exploded while they were riding it in Al Zeitoun neighborhood. The causes of the explosion remained unknown until the time of this report.

The two suffered moderate-to-severe wounds and were moved to the Al Shifa hospital in Gaza City.

The Police in Gaza said that it is likely that the two residents are fighters who carried explosive materials, and that an official investigation was initiated.

Also on Saturday, the Egyptian security forces located and detonated a tunnel on its border with Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

The tunnel was located in Al Brazil neighborhood in Rafah; the explosion caused damages to a number of Palestinian homes in the area, local sources reported.
