Welcome to Palestine Today, a service of the International Middle East Media Centre, www.imemc.org, for Thursday, February 11th, 2010.

Two Palestinians reported killed in the Gaza Strip as army step up attacks in the West Bank. These stories, and more, coming up, stay tuned.

The News Cast
Two Palestinian men were killed in the Gaza Strip on Thursday in separate incidents.

One Palestinian was killed and another wounded after the army bombarded the Juhr Al Deek area, east of Gaza city. The death occurred when an un-manned Israeli drone, fired a missile close to the Karni crossing. Two sisters, ages 13 and 5, were also wounded in the same area, Thursday morning, when the Israeli army fired shells.

Armed clashes took place in the area and at least one resident was wounded, according to local sources. Earlier on Thursday a Palestinian fighter was killed in what the Al Qassam Brigades of Hamas described as Jihadist mission.

In the west bank village of al Khiljan, Israeli troops ordered the family of Muhammad al Khatib to leave their home in the northern west bank. Al Khatib was detained by the military after stabbing an Israeli soldier near a military checkpoint, in the northern West Bank, on Wednesday.

The Israeli army invaded al Khiljan village late Wednesday night and detained six members of the al Khatib family. The soldiers ransacked the house and took computers and photos during the incursion. Al Khatib is said to be a Police officer working for the Palestinian Authority.

In related news Israeli military bulldozers demolished five water cisterns and three farming huts owned by farmers from the southern west bank village of Ithna, on Thursday. The soldiers also confiscated water pumps and electricity generators used by the famers, according to witness reports.

The army says the structures where built too close to the Israeli separation wall being built on Palestinian land. The farmers said they went to Israeli court and were waiting for a judge’s decision on the matter. They added that the army gave them no warning before the demolition today.

Also on Thursday in the West Bank, four Palestinian civilians were detained by the Israeli military during invasions targeting the city of Bethlehem.
