The army stated that soldiers were inspecting what was described as suspicious movements along the border fence near the Kissufim Crossing when the missile was fired from inside Gaza.
No Palestinian group claimed responsibility for the claimed attack.
Israeli army sources claimed that this attack marks the second violation to the ceasefire in two days. According to the army, a group calling itself Hezbollah Palestine claimed responsibility for firing a shell at an Israeli area adjacent to the Gaza Strip.
Hamas and Israel agreed on a truce deal in June. The truce ended the firing of homemade shells into adjacent Israeli area but Israel did not fully keep its part of the truce as the border terminal remained largely sealed.
