Regardless of the statements of U.S President, Barack Obama, slamming Israel decision to construct 900 units in Gilo illegal settlement, the Israeli government decided to implement a plan to construct a new neighborhood in Nof Zion illegal settlement, in Jabal Al Mukabbir Palestinian neighborhood in east Jerusalem.

In an Interview with Fox News, Obama said that expanding Jewish settlements does not help in maintaining Israel’s security, as settlements will make it more difficult for the Israelis to make peace with their Palestinian neighbors.

The International Likud Movement, several members of Knesset and Jewish-American delegates placed Wednesday the cornerstone for the new illegal neighborhood.

There are currently 90 illegal structures in the ‘neighborhood’ and Israel intends to construct 1058 more structures.

Israeli paper, Haaretz, reported that the head of the American-Jewish delegate said that this construction is a message to Obama and to those who ‘want to void the Jewish presence in the Jewish homeland”.

He added that more homes will be bought and more money will be collected to boost the expansion and construction of settlement, and to tell Obama that these territories are not for negotiations.
