As Fateh Prepares to mark Arafat’s Death, Hamas arrests members
Senior officials of the Fateh movement, headed by Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, accused the Hamas-run security forces in Gaza of arresting Fateh members on Tuesday to prevent them from preparing to mark the fifth anniversary of the death of late President, Yasser Arafat.

Fateh added that Hamas security forces arrested several officials includes Jamal Obeid and Mohammad Al Nahhal.

The movement added that Hamas is acting on preventing any activities run by Fateh members and supporters.

Israeli online daily, Haaretz, reported that a Fateh official said that the arrests would likely continue until Wednesday, the anniversary of Arafat’s death.

Hamas denied the allegation of Fateh and claimed that the allegations are meant to divert attention from the ongoing arrests carried out by Fateh forces in the
West Bank against Hamas members and supporters.

Hamas spokesperson, Ehab Al Ghaseen, said that Fateh did not file for a permission to hold the the public event.
