The sources reported that the Nizar Suraqa 24 was at an evacuated military site near the city. Medical sources said that Suraqa died instantly due to the explosion.

His relatives said that he was on his way to his farm when he apparently stepped on a landmine.

The Palestinian police stated that it initiated a probe into the incident and added that the area used to be a training ground for Israeli forces.

It is worth mentioning that he is the third family member to be killed in the same circumstances. Several years ago, his brother Basil and his cousin Nidal Swarka died in similar landmine explosions.
