The Fateh Central Committee member said that ‘Israel is playing with fire, and is crossing all red lines’, and held Israel responsible for repercussions of these violations. His statements came in response to an attack carried out by fundamentalist settlers who broke into the yards of the Al Aqsa Mosque and attacked Muslim worshipers. Dahlan added that the Al Aqsa Intifada of late September 2000 took off after the former Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, conducted a provocative visit to the Al Aqsa Mosque along with his armed bodyguards. He said that the Israeli violations could lead to another Intifada especially amidst the ongoing illegal settlement activities, and the violation against the residents and holy sites in Jerusalem. Furthermore, Dahlan called on all factions to unite and end their internal differences in order to counter the escalating Israeli violations in Palestinian, especially in Jerusalem.
