Soldiers in attempt to attack a village council near Bethlehem

author Wednesday August 20, 2008 17:09author by Rula Shahwan - IMEMC News Report post

A number of Israeli vehicles invaded the West Bank city of Bethlehem on Wednesday morning and attempted to raid the municipality of the nearby Al Walaja village, local sources reported.

Eyewitnesses said the soldiers tried to break into the municipality building, but the security guards stopped them and as a result clashes occurred between both sides.

The security guards told the troops that they don’t have a legitimate cause to enter the building, unless they take permission from Palestinian authorities.

The reason behind this attempted attack remains unknown. Israeli soldiers repeatedly attempt to attack municipalities and village councils in the West Bank without any justification.
