Israeli troops invade Jenin, paralyze movement of civilians

Israeli troops invaded West Bank city of Jenin Saturday at dawn, erected several military checkpoints, and searched anumber of houses, local sources reported.

Eye witnesses stated that a at least eight military jeeps and vehicles backed by helicopters invaded the city and deployed in several locations for two hours.

Troops broke into and ransacked several homes without taking anybody prisoner, locals reported.

Soldiers also installed a number of military checkpoints in the city and resitricted the movement of the residents.

On August 11, Palestinian and Israeli security officials met in Jenin to discuss security issues.

The Palestinian security officials demanded to have full control over Jenin as PA security forces managed to impose law and order in the area, according to Palestinian sources.

The PA also demanded Israel to ease restrictions imposed the movement of Palestinians in the Jenin area.
