Erekat also sated that there are international efforts to set up a meeting next week between the President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas and the Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert.

Spokesman for the U.S. State Department, Sean McCormick refused to confirm this report and added that Rice will continue to work hard to push the idea of seeking to establish a Palestinian state. These endeavors will include meetings with both the Palestinian and Israeli officials.
