Dr. Muawiyeh Hassaneen, a senior ministry official said that this number brought the total number of Palestinians killed since September 28, 2000 up to 5440. Meanwhile, Dr. Hassaneen reported that four thousand Palestinians were wounded raising the number of wounded Palestinians since the outbreak of the second Intifada up to sixty thousand, 8550 of which became disabled. The second Intifada started in September 2000 after the former Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon made a provocative visit to the Aqsa Mosque accompanied by more than 2000 police officers, soldiers and security officers. |
