The Hamas-run ministry warned on Sunday of a health crisis in Gaza due to the continued fuel shortage in the coastal region, a ministry's statement read.

The statement, delivered to press, also read that the ongoing Israeli siege on Gaza has caused widespread complications among many thousands of patients, especially those with chronic diseases.

"the Israeli occupation authorities have been preventing shipments of fuel into the Gaza Strip since January of this year", the statement pointed out.

The ministry appealed to all international concerned organizations to intervene immediately to prevent further collapse of the health services.

Since June of last year, Israel has been imposing a crippling closure on the Gaza Strip, after the Islamist Hamas party seized control over there.
