Dr. Ahmad Bahar, the acting head of the Palestinian Legislative Council, a senior political leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, welcomed on Wednesday the statements of the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, in which he called for the resumption of internal talks between Hamas and Fateh, and the rest of the Palestinian factions.

Abbas also called for implementing the unity deals in accordance to the Yemen declaration for the resumption of talks.

Dr. Bahar stated that this is a positive development which could mark the beginning of internal dialogue among the Palestinians.

He also welcomed the statements of Ismail Haniyya of Hamas, the Prime Minister of the dissolved government in Gaza. Haniyya welcomed the statements of Abbas and welcomed his stance on demanding an Arab intervention in order to resume the talks.

Dr. Bahar added that the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) calls on Fateh and Hamas to initiate a comprehensive national dialogue based on the Cairo Agreement, the Mecca Agreement and the Yemini Declaration.

He also said that the PLC is willing to adopt the talks in order to restore unity among all Palestinians.

It is worth mentioning that the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) issued a statement welcoming the statements of Abbas and the response of Hamas, and called for an immediate resumption of internal dialogue.

The DFLP stated that it in addition to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Islamic Jihad and all other factions will support all unity efforts in order to end the divisions among the factions.

Several Palestinian legislators also welcomed the latest developments and called for unity.
