author Thursday March 27, 2008 17:09author by Ghassan Bannoura - IMEMC News Report post

The head of the Negotiations Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization, PLO, Dr. Sa'eb Ereikat, asked the EU, USA, UN, and Russia to but more pressure on Israel to commit to the Road Map Peace Plan.

Dr. Sa'ed Ereikat File 2007

Ereikat made his comments during a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Luxemburg John Isiluroun, in the West Bank city of Jericho on Wednesday evening.

The Palestinian official told the visiting EU official about the catastrophic effects of the Israeli illegal wall, settlement construction, mass political detention and the Israeli siege on Gaza on the life of Palestinians and the peace efforts.

The Palestinian-Israeli peace talks were revived last November during the one day U.S sponsored Annapolis conference on the bases of the Road Map Peace Plan.

The American sponsored Road Map of 2003 included an Israeli agreement to freeze all settlement activity in the West Bank and halt attacks against Palestinians, in return the Palestinian Authority was to dismantle the Palestinian armed resistance groups.
