UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon , called on Israel to halt its disproportionate and excessive use of force against the Palestinians people. The statement of the UN Chief came during a talk at the Islamic Summit in Dakar.

UN Secretary-General - Ban Ki-moon

He said that the Israeli decision to build hundreds of homes for the settlers in the occupied West Bank violates the Road Map Plan and said that Israel should fulfill all of its obligations. Ki-moon added that this decision does not serve the peace process.

Ki-moon further said that Israel’s disproportionate and excessive use of force against the Palestinians led to a large number of civilian casualties, including children.

After the Israeli army continued its escalation against the Palestinians, killing, inuring and kidnapping hundreds of Palestinians both in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, including the most recent attack in Bethlehem in which the army assassinated four Palestinians, several Palestinian factions vowed retaliation and some of the resistance groups fired homemade shells from the Gaza Strip into adjacent Israeli areas.

A recent Palestinian report issued by The National and International Department of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) revealed that File the Israeli army killed 274 Palestinians, including 50 children and 18 women since the beginning of 2008.
