The lawyer met with detainee Latifa Abu Thra’, from Balata refugee camp in Nablus, who informed him of the bad living conditions the detainees are facing in addition to the lack of medical attention for sick detainees. Abu Thra’ was kidnapped by the Israeli forces on December 19, 2003, and was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment. She is a mother of seven children. The lawyer also met with detainee Shereen Al Sheikh Khalil from Gaza and was living in Ramallah, Khalil was kidnapped on July 13, 2003 and was sentenced to six years. Nearly six months ago, Khalil underwent surgery in Kfar Saba Israeli hospital to remove her appendix and after a recent blood test physicians found out that she is suffering from anemia and needed vitamins. Khalil added that she recently development problems in her eyes and her sigh has weakened. She was kidnapped five years ago and was never allowed visitations. The lawyer also visited Titna Khalil Abu Al Eish, from Nablus. Abu Al Eish was kidnapped on July 21, 2006 and was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment. The detainees stated that there are many detainee who need to be examined by specialized physicians but the administration is refusing to allow them access to decent medical attention. |
