One fighter killed, at least ten residents injured in several Israeli air strikes in the Gaza Strip

Palestinian medical sources in the Gaza Strip reported late of Saturday night that one fighter was killed and at least ten residents, including children, were injured in several Israeli air strikes in the Gaza Strip.

The sources stated that the Israeli air force shelled an area in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip and killed one fighter; several residents were injured.

The killed fighter was identified as Mohammad Mteir, 23, member  of the Al Qassam brigades, the armed wing of Hamas.

Mteir was walking near Khalid Bin Al Waleed Mosque, in Al Salaam neighborhood in Rafah when he was targeted by an Israeli missile. He was seriously injured and died of his wounds at Abu Yousef Al Najjar Hospital in Rafah.

Troops also shelled a house in Al Shaboura neighborhood in Rafah; damage was reported, no injuries.

Later on, the Israeli air force shelled a training center used by fighters of the Al Qassam Brigades in Bani Suheila area in Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. The center was damaged but no injuries were reported.

Israeli military sources confirmed the attacks and said that the slain fighter was involved in smuggling incidents. An Israeli military spokeswoman said that the second strike targeted a Hamas training position.

 In Gaza city, the Israeli air force shelled a blacksmith workshop in Al Zeitoun neighborhood damaging the workshop and several surrounding houses were.

The Al Qassam brigades vowed retaliation to the ongoing Israeli attacks.
