One Palestinian teen injured in weekly Bil'in protest

author Friday February 08, 2008 22:23author by Ghassan Bannoura - IMEMC News Report post

Accompanied by international and Israeli supporters, the villagers of Bil'in, located near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, have conducted their weekly protest against the illegal Israeli wall being built on village land.

File - 2007

As with every week, the protest started after Friday prayers, with participants marching from the village center towards the construction site of the Wall, which, according to both the International Court of Justice and the Israeli supreme court, is being built, contrary to Israeli and international law, on village land.

Israeli troops installed a military barrier to block the route of the demonstration. As soon as the protesters reached the barrier, troops showered the demonstration with tear gas and rubber-coated steel bullets.

A Palestinian teenager, Saarie Khalil, 18, was shot in the arm with a rubber-coated steel bullet.
