The statement was issued at a ceremony celebrating the 40th anniversary of the movement's foundation. The statement, issued by the political department of the PFLP, encouraged all Palestinian factions to use democratic and peaceful means to solve internal issues and not to give those who want to create internal conflict in Palestinian society the chance. The PFLP also issued a warning about the Israeli conditions for peace, considering them as detrimental to Palestinian national rights. The leftist group regarded the Annapolis peace conference which took place last month in Maryland USA, as an attempt to destroy the Palestinian cause and fitting in with the 'American Zionist 'agenda of economic, security and cultural dominance in the middle east. The group also reiterated its commitment to the Palestinian refugees' right of return, the release of prisoners and the Jerusalem issue.
