International and Israeli peace activists attacked by Israeli forces in Qalqilia

A peaceful protest organized to challenge the Israeli closure of the Qalqilia ghetto was attacked by Israeli forces on Wednesday.

Qalqilia is a northern West Bank city that is completely surrounded by an Israeli-built and controlled 30-meter high concrete wall, with watchtowers every 200 meters.  Israeli forces control when a gate in the Wall will be opened to allow farmers and workers to enter and exit, and these forces have kept the gate closed for two full days.

So Israeli, international and Palestinian activists gathered in Qalqilia for a march and protest of the closure, but were attacked by Israeli soldiers firing sound bombs and tear gas at the crowd.

No arrests were reported, but several minor injuries were treated on-site by medics.
