The man, later identified as Hisham Barad'i, 37, was shot in the heart and died instatntly, medical sources said. The man, along with approximately 2,500 others, was participating in a rally organized by the Hizb Ut-Tahrir movement. More than 30 people were arrested during the demonstration. The Governor of Hebron castigated the organizers of the rally, stating, "I warned the leaders of Hizb Ut-Tahrir yesterday of the repercussions of the rally, and I told them that the Palestinian leadership will not relinquish unalienable Palestinian rights," adding, "We banned all rallies including pro and anti-Annapolis, and an application by Fatah to organize a pro-Annapolis rally was turned down." |
