Israeli army kills Palestinian farmer in Rafah; death toll rises to six in 24 hours

A total of six Palestinians, a number including civilians and resistance fighters, have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza in the last 24 hours.

Early on Tuesday morning, Palestinian medics pronounced the death of Ali Alsufi, a 55-year-old farmer from the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

Witnesses said that the Israeli army swept into eastern Rafah city, opening fire on farm lands, leaving al-Sufi dead, injuring three of his brothers, and abducting at least four others.

Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli aircraft fired a missile on a group of resistance fighters in northern Gaza, killing a member of the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas. The man was later identified as Fadi Abdelsattar, 22.

A futher three members of the Qassam Brigades were on Wednesday killed in an air strike near the northern Gaza city of Beit Hanoun.

A statement released by the Brigades on the same day also indicated that a further resistance fighter had died of wounds inflicted in an earlier Israeli attack.
