The Governor of Khan Younis, Usama al-Farra, released a report on Wednesday stating that Palestinian farmers have lost over $56 million due to Israeli attacks, closures and seizures of land since the current uprising began in 2000.

He added that the major losses of land to Israeli seizure were: 5360 dunums  of Olive, Palm, Almonds and Citrus trees, 1265 dunums of grapes and 3654 dunums of other fruit trees.

These lands were lost when Israeli forces annexed them, seizing the land and stealing the trees.

Al-Farra stated that many of the losses occurred in the Khan Younis district due to the Israeli policy of razing Palestinian land located near the borders with Israel and with Egypt.

He called on the international community to intervene, to allow Palestinian farmers to maintain their livelihood in the face of massive violations of their human rights by Israeli occupying forces.
