Scores of employees participated in the protest, held in front of the municipality building in Bethlehem city center, demanding immediate payment of both their salaries and additional benefits.

Ibraheem Salahat, spokesman for the employees' committee, told gathered reporters that the strike will continue until next Sunday, adding that workers were yet to receive any reply from the city council regarding their demands.
