Za’areer stated that there was no conflict between the President and the movement, adding that Abbas' meeting was deigned to bring an end to Hamas' so-called 'coup' in the Gaza Strip.

Responding to a question the arrest of Hamas members in the West Bank, Za’areer said that the Palestinian security services are following orders issued by a legitimate government, not by the Fatah organization.

“Unlike what is happening in Gaza, these forces are implementing orders issued by a legitimate government”, he stated, “while Hamas forces in Gaza are implementing orders of an illegitimate government," the spokesman stated.
