Dr. Fayyad also informed the envoy on the recent plans and programs prepared by the Palestinian government in order to rebuild the local institutions and develop the Palestinian economy.

He called on the international community to provide more financial support to the Palestinian Authority, and to act in order to ensure that Israel opens the Gaza Strip crossings.

Dr. Fayyad informed Otte on the Palestinian preparations for the Fall Conference in Annapolis, USA, and stressed on the importance of the success of this conference.

He stated that all parties must prepare well for the conference in order to guarantee positive results.

Earlier this month, Otte stated that if the conference fails to achieve its goals the consequences would trigger more violence in the area and place the situation in conditions worse than 2000 incidents when the second Intifada started after the failed Camp David talks.
