The Palestinian Popular (Folk) Committees issued a statement on Tuesday holding the Israeli Prison Authorities responsible for the life of detainee Taiseer Al Jab’a, who was seriously injured recently when the army broke into the Negev detention facility and fired at the detainees.

The Committees stated that Al Jab’a, was injured in one of his testicles, and that he is currently in a critical condition in Soroka Israeli hospital in Be’er Shiva.

The Committees added that the detainee is not receiving the needed medical treatment and that he is facing discrimination by the administration since he is a detainee in an Israeli hospital.

Moreover, the Committees appealed international human rights group to intervene and stop the ongoing Israeli violations especially since the soldiers fired live rounds at unarmed detainees, which constitutes a war crime.

In a separate statement, Azmi Shiokhy, Secretary-General of the Committees, appealed human rights groups , and the Red Cross, to intervene and save the life of detainee Mohannad Awwad, who is currently at the Intensive Care Unit in Al Ramla Israeli Hospital.

Awwad is suffering from vein clots and is in a serious condition. He is from Aroura village, east of Ramallah; Israel claims that he is a member of the Al Aqsa brigades, the armed wing of Fateh.

He was kidnapped by the Israeli army in June 2006, no charges were filed against him since then.

The Committees called on the international community to act and protect the Palestinian detainees imprisoned by Israel and facing sharp violations which contradict with the Fourth Geneva Conventions and the basic principle of Human Rights.
