Hassouna’s remarks came on the sideline of a graduation ceremony for the first batch of holders of master degrees at the Bethlehem University in the West Bank.

Hassouna confirmed there has been a concrete progress in terms of implementation of the security plan, a matter that will be inflected on the economic and developmental fields.

He maintained that with Palestine being more stable and secure, foreign investors are encouraged to either complement outstanding projects or carry out new ones.

The Palestinian minister said that the security plan is a neat one that will be implemented at many levels in the next few weeks, giving no further details.

In the meantime, Hassaouna affirmed the Palestinian government’s will to work on lifting the economic embargo Israel has been strictly imposing on the Palestinians, especially in the Gaza Strip, after a Hamas-led government has taken control over the coastal region.

Last month, the Israeli government declared Gaza a ‘hostile entity’, as Israel’s defense minister, Ehud Barak, approved cutting off electricity and fuel supply to the Gaza Strip’s 1.5 million residents.
