The protest at the university was attended by all factions, including the rival Fatah and Hamas movements.

Fadi Hamad, head of the Students Council at the university, commended the detainees for maintaining their unity despite the recent rash of inter-factional violence.

The Fatah student bloc at the University noted that there could be no solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that did not include the release of all detainees, the return of all refugees, and the establishment of Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state.

The Islamic Bloc at the university called for unity and support for the prisoners, adding that all prisoners must be freed without preconditions.
