According to the newspaper, the Palestinian representatives were close to the Hamas movement, while Israel was represented by Ofer Dikel, the Israeli Representative for Israeli prisoners and missing persons. Egypt was represented by Omer Suleiman, the director of the Egyptian intelligence agency.

During the meeting, talks were made to re-establish negotiations on the Gilad Shalit issue, the Israeli soldier that was apprehended by Palestinian resistance two years ago.

The newspaper quoted sources from the meeting stating that Israel would release 450 Palestinian political detainees from a list of 1000 names provided by Hamas. The prisoners will have no blood on their hands, the newspaper added.

There are around 12,000 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli detention camps, among them are women and children. The majority of detainees are being held without charge.
