The Hamas-affiliated Executive Force on Sunday arrested three Rafah residents on suspicion of collaborating with Israeli intelligence over the abduction of senior Hamas official Mhawesh al-Qadi.

The three were arrested after an Executive Force-led investigation into al-Qadi’s kidnapping concluded that the operation could only have been made possible through local Palestinian collaboration.
Meanwhile, Israeli Public Security Minister Avi Dichter on Monday branded the captured Hamas official as a major bargaining chip in securing the release of captive Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
The Hamas movement, for their part, refuted such claims, arguing that al-Kadi’s involvement in the Shalit affair ended some time ago, and that the official had no information regarding his location.
