Eyewitnesses said that the man, later identified by medical sources as Raed Rafatey, 34, was unarmed when he approached the borders.

Medical sources reported that the man suffers from severe learning difficulties and is unaware of his actions.

While Palestinian ambulance teams rushed to the location of the attack, Israeli troops refused to allow them to treat the man, and instead kidnapped him.

Earlier on Tuesday, Palestinian resistance fighters fired several home made shells at the southern Israeli city of Sderot, Israeli medical sources reported that one Israeli man was lightly wounded in the attack.
